Nya Confronts the Fears That Follow Transformation on “Duality2”
The first piece of writing to sit with “Duality2” as the closing statement of NYAVERSE rather than treat it as one more single. It reads the track as a companion to the 2021 EP Duality, returned to with a more mature perspective, and refuses the easy version of the story: growth is messy and incomplete, and transformation does not arrive as a clean slate. The argument at the centre of it is that changing an appearance, an identity or an artistic direction does not automatically leave the old fears behind, and the “new name, new face, new everything” line is heard as a vulnerable admission rather than a victory lap. On the production it credits the full experimental range of hyperpop, glitch-heavy work set against shimmering synths, distorted textures and unpredictable rhythmic shifts, and hears the fragmentation as deliberate: every glitch and abrupt transition restates the idea that identity itself is rarely stable. Herten musician “Nya” Jahn releases debut album
